Although, it was only for their last season, I am so thankful to have worked with this amazing crew!  I learned how having an art director as talented and hard working as Bryan Konietzko makes all the difference in having a quality production.  These are some props and bg's from that incredible show.

detailed elevations

   When I design for theme parks, I start with concept.  Concept is satisfying both artistically and creatively.  But the real payoff is having it all come together and seeing it built.  another important step
towards that is detailed elevations.  This is where i feel I am designing for their experience- what they are surrounded by,  what they touch,  every nook and cranny.
   With the help from architects and planners I can make detailed elevations like these that give builders
an exact guide of what to build.

Designing with Toys in Mind

     I learned while designing for animation with toys in mind, that the toymakers are geniuses.  They can make any design work- even bad ones.  But if you design like you were a toymaker;  keeping in mind materials, joints (points of articulation,) scale, the parameters of detail, and what toy sellers look for that might appeal to kids, the closer the toy will be to your design.  In other words, "if you design like a toymaker, the toy will look more like your design."
     Of course, sometimes you get shitty toymakers.

Longevity in this field, of course, relies on talent and work ethic.  And I've also learned that adaptability is essential to a steady career.  

Besides analyzing and practicing different techniques,  researching, studying and learning the initial

Theme park design was very good to me.  I loved the fact that, with so many clients, you never were caught getting bored.
